The education of children is developed to a great extent through the practice of a sports discipline, although their basic training is encouraged from home. The influence of parents in the lives of minors is a reality; they are their first example in life and, therefore, the importance of an education worked from home favors the process of sports training.

From Campus Experience Real Madrid Foundation, we identify the role of parents in the lives of small footballers. Read on and discover all the details!

Parents’ approach to football

It is important that parents establish a positive relationship in their children’s behaviour with football or sport in general. On a positive note, we refer to its inclusion in the learning process and the acceptance that football is not only a sport, but also a school of life training, whose purpose is to help children grow up with a high degree of psychological and physical harmony.

Relationship with the child

Children enjoy sport and must learn to win, lose, play well or not, without fear of external reactions. We must allow children to play and have fun under a condition of serenity and peace of mind. It is also essential to avoid creating competition with your teammates/ace, moving away from comparisons about your results with other players.

Parents who become support for their children

Experiences with high-level players have shown that their parents had played a key role in shaping their personal motivations; in addition to giving them some freedom in choosing and in turn understanding the progress their children were making and understanding that their sporting experiences would raise the prestige of the child.

The relationship of parents with the team

Parents are a relevant part of the player-football team and coach relationship. Ideally, they are willing to cooperate with the team. Therefore, they must commit to be present when the team has meetings, so that they are informed of the social activities and all those social programs that relate to their son and daughter. They should communicate with the club and support its activities.

In conclusion, good communication between parents, children, coach and team means that many problems are avoided and that there is a good relationship between the parties for the maximum happiness of the children.
